This is a place to discuss the uses of the (Wing Chun) Wooden dummy. Its for classical and non-classical uses - and debate and tips and everything dummy related
Here listen to the 'new paradigm' for learning and training MA by Matt Thornton. See his chess analogy too @ 6.30 onwards. Very apt.
The implications here of non-resistance would be critical then of the wooden dummy for training. Mat would say it doesnt resist or hit back.MMmmm. Something to think about. But neither does a kick bag and you are forced to move around it. And the shapes you pull on it can be diverse, so I would not worry too much about criticism of dummy use alone. I think the over honing of the form on the dummy alone would be counter productive, because the sequences may get burned in.
